Is Point Break Effective?

Biddle Consulting Group (BCG) conducted a research study to evaluate the effectiveness of the Point Break Workshops. Several senior- and principal-level consultants were assigned to conduct the study, which included qualitative research and two separate quantitative research investigations (one pre-post and one pre-post set up under quasi-experimental design parameters).

Point Break is a one-day intervention program designed to positively impact the attitudes, behaviors, and values (“ABVs” hereafter) of teenage high school students. The eight key areas that are targeted by the Point Break Program (and were thus included in the research study) include:

  • Bullying/teasing
  • Willingness to reach for help
  • Gossiping
  • Openness of expression
  • Judging others
  • Valuing others
  • Having empathy towards others
  • Having a hopeful life outlook

The research report concluded that Point Break has a statistically significant impact on the attitudes, behaviors, and values of students on today’s high school campuses.
